The credibility and trustworthiness of the research we publish is of utmost importance to us, and we believe in maintaining a fair and objective approach to addressing any allegations of misconduct.

Definition of Research Misconduct

Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to:

  • Fabrication: Making up data or results and recording or reporting them.
  • Falsification: Manipulating research materials, equipment, processes, or changing/omitting data or results in a way that misrepresents the research.
  • Plagiarism: Using another person’s ideas, processes, results, or words without appropriate acknowledgment.
  • Improper Authorship: Including authors who have not made significant contributions to the research or omitting authors who have.
  • Failure to Follow Ethical Guidelines: This includes violations of ethical standards related to human or animal research, as well as conflicts of interest.

Handling Allegations

  1. Submission of Allegation: Any allegations of research misconduct can be submitted to the editorial team via email at ujpseditor@gmail.com. The allegation must be made in writing and include specific details of the suspected misconduct, including the article in question and evidence supporting the claim.
  2. Initial Review: Upon receiving an allegation, the editorial team will conduct an initial review to determine whether the concern is credible and warrants further investigation. This will typically involve assessing the evidence provided and reviewing the article for any apparent issues.
  3. Investigation Process: If the initial review suggests that there is a legitimate concern of misconduct, the editorial board will initiate a formal investigation. This may involve consulting independent experts or external bodies specializing in research ethics. Both the author(s) involved and the complainant will be informed of the progress throughout the investigation.
  4. Decision and Actions: Based on the results of the investigation, the following actions may be taken:
    • Correction: If a minor error or oversight is identified, the authors may be asked to correct the paper or provide a clarification.
    • Retraction: If the misconduct is deemed serious (such as falsification or plagiarism), the paper may be retracted, and the authors will be notified. A retraction notice will be published.
    • Sanctions: Depending on the severity of the misconduct, the authors may be banned from submitting to the journal in the future, and the matter may be reported to the relevant academic or professional institutions.
  5. Confidentiality: All allegations and investigations will be handled with the utmost confidentiality to protect the privacy of all parties involved. However, in cases of confirmed misconduct, necessary steps will be taken to inform relevant institutions, funding bodies, and other journals.
